Tottenham have reportedly made their first offer for Sampdoria attacker Mikkel Damsgaard.
According to La Repubblica via CalcioMercato, Spurs have lodged a €20m (£17m) bid for the Denmark international. However, the Genoese side are looking for €40m (£34m) for Damsgaard.
The 21-year-old winger was one of the breakout stars of Euro 2020. Damsgaard’s free-kick against England in the semi-final was one of the goals of the tournament.
Indeed, plenty of sides are queuing for the Dane’s signature this summer. However, Tottenham appear to be the side with the biggest interest in the young forward.
With Fabio Paratici now employed by the club, Tottenham have leaned towards Serie A players for most of their summer signing, at Damsgaard could be the next target.
Spurs have already brought in Pierluigi Gollini from Atalanta with Cristian Romero expected to follow suit later this week. Tottenham are also interested in Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu.
Indeed, it has been a busy summer for Spurs so far, and that’s without factoring the ongoing episode between the club and Harry Kane.

However, the club’s interest in Damsgaard appears to be real, and for Tottenham fans on social media, they’re already expecting the worst.
Deals to bring Romero and other targets to the club have dragged for weeks. And although it is not yet known if Spurs will increase their offer for Damsgaard, supporters are bracing for another drawn-out saga.
