Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted on Twitter to Fabio Paratici landing in London to potentially appoint Nuno Espirito Santo as their next manager.
Well, it took Tottenham long enough, didn’t it? Actually, no one should count their chickens yet, this could easily fall flat on its face.
But, after months of manager names being thrown about, even the supporters being in dreamland about Mauricio Pochettino possibly returning, it’s Nuno who is the one Fabio Paratici is turning to.
Italian journalist Di Marzio has claimed that Tottenham’s new Sporting Director, Paratici, is now in London and is close to appointing the former Wolves boss as their next manager.
And it’s fair to say that the Tottenham fans aren’t a happy bunch.
At the end of the day, it’s all about timing and if Nuno was approached and appointed when Wolves were securing back-to-back European finishes then perhaps there would have been a different viewpoint on him.
But instead, he comes off the back of leaving Wolves, who finished in the bottom half last season, so it’s not exactly excitement galore.
Then there’s the man he’s replacing – Jose Mourinho – his former Porto boss, his mentor and the man who he has based some of his tactical style on.
Either way, this isn’t a crowd-pleaser of an appointment but one dividing opinion.
The problem facing Nuno is that he has to re-unite the fanbase because it has been cut open for several seasons now.
During his days at Molineux, he did showcase great man-management skills and all of that is going to be needed here if he does indeed sign on that dotted line in North London.
Nonetheless, here is a selection to Spurs fans reacting on Twitter to the Nuno rumours:
