Ian Wright has raved about Tottenham Hotspur-linked Senegal international central defender Abdou Diallo on ITV (3:53pm, November 21, 2022).

The Arsenal legend believes Diallo, who Tottenham reportedly decided against signing in the summer of 2022 despite interest, will be a player to watch at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Wright made the comments about the 26-year-old defender while looking ahead to the game between Senegal and the Netherlands on Monday.

In July, RMC Sport reported that Tottenham wanted to sign Diallo from Paris Saint-Germain, but, as later claimed by L’Equipe, Spurs did not want to pay the €30 million (£25.92 million) transfer fee the French giants were asking for and secured the services of Clement Lenglet on loan from Barcelona instead.

Diallo eventually joined RB Leipzig on loan from PSG in the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old has played as a centre-back, left-back and in defensive midfield this season.

The Senegal international has scored one goal in five Bundesliga matches so far this season.

Diallo has also made two starts and three substitute appearances in the UEFA Champions League so far this campaign.

Praise for Tottenham Hotspur-linked Abdou Diallo

Wright said: “I think Abdou Diallo as well at left-back is a player to watch.”
