Reported Liverpool and Newcastle United target Ousmane Dembele has told Barcelona head coach Xavi that he will leave at the end of the season, according to journalist Jota Jordi in ‘El Chiringuito’.

Dembele has reportedly told Xavi not to count on him at Barcelona next season.

The 24-year-old is claimed to have a big offer from a Premier League.

La Sexta are claiming that it is Newcastle who have made Dembele the big offer.

Liverpool and Newcastle interest in Ousmane Dembele

The France international forward, linked with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle, is out of contract at Barcelona in the summer of 2022.

TEAMtalk reported in October that outgoing Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards wants to sign Dembele on a free transfer.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano said on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel last week that Newcastle have been in contact over signing the forward.

Encouraging news for Liverpool

Dembele reportedly telling Xavi that he will leave in the summer of 2022 is great news for Liverpool.

It means that Jurgen Klopp’s side could sign him.

However, Liverpool will face competition.

Newcastle are interested in Dembele, and so are Tottenham Hotspur.

So, in our opinion, it is not going to be easy for Liverpool to sign Dembele, described as a player with “frightening” pace by Lionel Messi in GiveMeSport in March 2020.
