Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has raved about Julian Ward in The Guardian.
Klopp has said that Ward is an expert on scouting players and making signings.
Ward will replace Michael Edwards at Liverpool at the end of the season.
Edwards will step down from his role as the sporting director at Liverpool in the summer of 2022.
Liverpool have decided that Ward will take over, having been working as Edwards’s number two.
What Jurgen Klopp has said
Klopp told The Guardian: “I’ve known Jules for a long time. He has been at the club probably longer than I have so I met him on my first or second day and he is an absolute expert on everything about players, scouting, transfers and all these kind of things.
“He’s worked very closely with Michael Edwards in the past so I think it will be a very smooth takeover.”

Encouraging for Liverpool fans
We know how much Liverpool fans rate Edwards.
Just check the internet.
Edwards has been superb for Liverpool over the years, bringing in world-class players such as Mo Salah, Alisson and Virgil van Dijk.
Some Liverpool fans will obviously be a bit worried.
However, Klopp’s comments on Ward should dispel any concerns from the Liverpool fans.
The German clearly rates Ward highly and knows what he is capable of.
In our view, Ward is the perfect in-house replacement for Edwards.
Liverpool fans should be optimistic about the club making quality signings under Ward.
It will be a new person in charge, but with the same and successful philosophy.
