Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have reportedly missed out on the signing of Djibril Sow.

Arsenal were linked with Eintracht Frankfurt star Djibril Sow over the weekend.

Italian news outlet Calciomercato claimed that Arsenal are “aggressively” trying to sign Sow in the summer transfer window.

The report noted interest in the 26-year-old midfielder from Lazio as well.

Calciomercato reported that Lazio had all but agreed a deal with Frankfurt for the Switzerland international.

But, according to the Italian news outlet, the Serie A club were worried about a possible threat from Premier League outfit Arsenal.

The midfielder helped Frankfurt win the UEFA Europa League in 2021-22.

The Switzerland international also won the Swiss Super League with Young Boys in 2018 and 2019.

Sow made 30 starts and two substitute appearances in the Bundesliga last season.

The midfielder scored four goals in those games.

Sow also played eight games in the UEFA Champions League last season.

Arsenal to miss out on Djibril Sow to Sevilla

It seems that Arsenal will miss out on the signing of Sow in the summer transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Sow is on his way to Sevilla.

The Italian journalist has claimed that the former Young Boys star will undergo a medical with Sevilla on Wednesday.

The midfielder will then sign a five-year contract with the La Liga club.

While missing out on Djibril Sow will be a disappointment for Arsenal, there is an argument to be made that the Gunners do not need him.

After all, Arsenal have signed England international midfielder Declan Rice from West Ham United in the summer transfer window.

Thomas Partey is also at Arsenal, and so is Jorginho.
