Liverpool fans will be encouraged to read previous comments from Lionel Messi on Ousmane Dembele, amid speculation that manager Jurgen Klopp wants to bring the forward to Anfield.

Aacording to Calciomercato, Liverpool want to sign Dembele from Barcelona in the summer transfer window and will have to pay €50 million (£43.01 million) as transfer fee for the 23-year-old, as covered by HITC Sport.

The 23-year-old has not been a massive hit at Camp Nou since his move from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 and has had injury problems.

However, the France international forward is a player who is highly rated by his Barcelona teammate and Argentine superstar Messi.

GiveMeSport quoted Messi as saying about Dembele in March 2020: “His pace is frightening in training.”

Messi made the aforementioned comments about Dembele while including him in his list of 15 young players on the rise.

The Frenchman is still only 23, and there is every chance that he could develop to become a world-class player.

What Dembele needs is to stay fit and get a regular run in the team, and if Liverpool sign him, then they would be making a good decision.

Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have not been at their best this season, and Klopp could do with freshening up his attacking line.
