Marca have released their list of who they believe to be the best young players on the planet right now, and there’s one name on their list that may interest Leeds United supporters.
Indeed, Charles De Ketelaere has made the cut in Marca’s top 25 amid reports that Leeds are keen to sign the Belgian.
According to Phil Hay, Leeds have an interest in the 22-year-old, and now, he’s been rated as one of the best young players on the planet.
Interestingly, De Ketelaere has ranked one spot higher than Conor Gallagher – a player Leeds were very strongly linked with last summer, and after Gallagher’s incredible season for Crystal Palace, it’s fair to say that he’s deserving of a spot on this list.
So, what did De Ketelaere do to earn this spot? Well 18 goals and 10 assists in the Belgian top division will certainly have helped, while he’s also become a regular for his national team.
It’s no surprise to hear that De Ketelaere is receiving interest from the Premier League, but sadly for Leeds, his talents mean that he will cost a pretty penny with Het Nieuwsblad claiming that Club Brugge will ask for more than £26m for their star man.
If De Ketelaere lives up to his potential, a fee of around £26m would be an absolute snip, and given the names of some other players on Marca’s list, it’s fair to say that the attacking midfielder could have a very bright future.
This youngster could be a Premier League star in the making.
