A Rodrigo Bentancur injury will no doubt be worrying some Tottenham Hotspur supporters – and rightly so.

The Spurs midfielder came off injured after 34 minutes of Uruguay’s 2-0 victory over Ghana in the World Cup this afternoon.

Despite victory, the South American outfit have exited the competition.

Bentancur has been a massive player for Tottenham this season, particularly shortly before the World Cup break when he scored a number of last-minute goals for Antonio Conte’s side.

It remains to be seen how severe this injury is but, one thing for certain is, the player himself looked devastated.

In one photograph, the Lilywhites star is seen sitting on the turf with his hands over his face, surrounded by his teammates.

Hopefully for the North Londoners, this is nothing too concerning and something he can shake off in time for the second half of the campaign.

As mentioned, Bentancur has been a genuinely massive player for Tottenham this season.

When Harry Kane and Son Heung-min haven’t been scoring – which is all season for the latter, more or less – then the former Juventus midfielder has regularly popped up with a big goal.

Goals from midfield have been missing in a Spurs side for quite some time and it really would be a major blow if this leads to him being sidelined for the Premier League outfit.
