Recently, Martin Ødegaard sat down with Stadium Astro, where he told Erling Haaland to join Arsenal when he leaves Borussia Dortmund.

The Norwegian’s comments were clearly tongue in cheek, although an old photo has now emerged which will surely be of interest to Arsenal fans.

What’s the story?

Well, when he was younger, it seems Haaland had a soft spot for the Gunners, as a photo of him wearing an Arsenal shirt surfaced online.

There has been no talk of Arsenal being interested in signing the 21-year-old, and realistically, Mikel Arteta has to secure Champions League qualification if he wants the Norway international to join.

Elsewhere, Liverpool are said to be keen on bringing Haaland to the Premier League, as he prepares to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer.

So far this season, the Leeds-born wonderkid has remarkably scored 25 goals in just 27 appearances, while also providing eight assists.

In total, Haaland has an astonishing record in Germany, scoring 82 goals in 86 appearances for Borussia Dortmund.

Will Erling Haaland join Arsenal or Liverpool?

Sadly, for those who hold Arsenal and Liverpool close to their heart, it seems Haaland will not be moving to north London or Merseyside.

Instead, the former RB Salzburg marksman looks set to join Manchester City, who are still in need of a replacement for Sergio Agüero.

According to the Daily Mail, Haaland has agreed personal terms with the Citizens, where he is expected to earn £500,000-a-week once his £63m release clause is activated.

Therefore, unless something very surprising happens, it seems Pep Guardiola has managed to sign one of the most prolific strikers around.

Haaland may have a soft spot for Arsenal, but that doesn’t seem to be enough to secure the £132,000-a-week man’s signature on this occasion.

By the looks of things, the Gunners can only hope he goes easy on them when they face each other next season.
