According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign Erling Haaland, who is said to be a target for Liverpool and Newcastle.

What’s the story?

Well, it was the Daily Star who revealed that Liverpool are in the running to sign the prolific Borussia Dortmund striker.

Elsewhere, Spanish news outlet AS claimed that Newcastle wanted to sign Haaland, after the Saudi Arabian takeover.

Now, however, it seems the Premier League duo will lose out to Manchester City.

The Daily Mail believe the Citizens have discussed personal terms with Haaland, and the Norway international is expected to join the Premier League champions.

Additionally, the 21-year-old has a £63m release clause in his contract, although agent fees owed to Mino Raiola and a signing-on bonus will take the deal beyond £100m.

Liverpool or Newcastle must try to hijack Erling Haaland deal

We’re not sure if Liverpool have the finances to hijack such an expensive deal, but Newcastle certainly do.

In that respect, they must try their best to convince Haaland to ignore the lure of Pep Guardiola, or else the entire Premier League will suffer.

Manchester City are already the dominant force in England’s top-flight, having won three of the last four Premier League titles up for grabs.

Therefore, if they add Haaland to their ranks – a man who has remarkably scored 80 goals in 79 games for Borussia Dortmund – they will become simply unstoppable.

For the sake of some competition in the Premier League, Liverpool, Newcastle or another side must ensure this deal collapses.
