Earlier this week, the Daily Mail claimed that Leeds had made a £26m bid to sign Club Brugge wonderkid Charles De Ketelaere.

It was a real statement of intent from Jesse Marsch, and if the offer is accepted, it would see the 21-year-old become the second most expensive purchase in the club’s history, behind the £29m Rodrigo.

Now, in a development which will surely excite Leeds fans, De Ketelaere has been seen in England.

What’s the story?

Well, the Belgium international – who has been compared to Kevin De Bruyne – revealed that he was in England on Instagram, as he posted a photo of himself at Wimbledon.

Of course, the All England Club – where Wimbledon is held in London – is nowhere near Yorkshire, although that doesn’t mean the Belgian isn’t heading straight to Elland Road after he’s done watching tennis.

De Ketelaere could well just be watching tennis, although his arrival in England is certainly interesting given the timing of the £26m bid, which was made just a matter of days ago.

However, Newcastle are also interested in bringing the Club Brugge No.90 to the Premier League, so he may be heading to Tyneside once he’s finished watching tennis.

It’s all very speculative, although the timing is certainly intriguing.

Charles De Ketelaere would shine for Leeds

In our view, Victor Orta would be pulling off one of the signings of the summer if he managed to lure De Ketelaere to Leeds.

The attacker scored 18 goals in 49 appearances last season, while also providing ten assists as he gained invaluable Champions League experience too.

De Ketelaere is also extremely versatile, having played as a centre-forward and as an attacking midfielder last term, while also appearing on both flanks.

Admittedly, it will be tough to lose both Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha, but if this is how Marsch spends the money, Leeds fans have every right to be excited.
