Tottenham Hotspur central defender Cristian Romero has been described as a “phenomenon” on Instagram by Paris Saint-Germain winger Angel Di Maria.
Romero, who joined Tottenham from Atalanta on loan in the summer of 2021, is injured at the moment.
The 23-year-old central defender suffered a hamstring injury while playing for Argentina against Brazil during the November international break.
Romero will not play again in 2021.
The Tottenham youngster has posted the following post on Instagram.
It reads, as translated from Spanish: “My dream year in every way. It ends like this, unfortunately. My first muscle injury and of this magnitude. Now with my head set on my recovery and eager to return soon @spursofficial @afaseleccion.”
PSG ace and Romero’s Argentina international teammate, Di Maria, has responded to Spurs defender Romero’s post.
The former Manchester United man wrote: “You will come back stronger phenomenon. Stay with that dream year.”
Tottenham’s Cristian Romero should stay strong
We understand that it must have been a bitter blow for Romero to suffer the long-term injury.
The 2021 Copa America winner with Argentina was playing well for Spurs before he suffered the injury.

In our opinion, Romero should stay strong and focus on his recovery.
Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte will be well aware of how good the defender is.
The Tottenham no. 4 has made six starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League so far this season.
The youngster has also played twice in the Carabao Cup and two games in the Europa Conference League so far this campaign.
