Manchester City ace Gabriel Jesus would be the ‘perfect’ addition to Arsenal’s squad as the Premier League giants prioritise a new centre-forward, former England international Darren Bent tells talkSPORT (7 June, 9.20am).

From Victor Osimhen to Gianluca Scamacca, Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Alvaro Morata, Arsenal have been linked with their fair share of strikers since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang departed for Barcelona five months ago.

Gabriel Jesus, however, appears to tick every single box. Not too expensive, not too risky. Just right. The Goldilocks centre-forward.

Not only is Jesus proven in the Premier League – he’s won the thing four times already while scoring 58 goals in just 99 starts – he’s also worked with Mikel Arteta before at the Etihad Stadium. He’s versatile too, more so than the old-school Calvert-Lewin and the towering Scamacca anyway, and still has plenty of room for improvement at the age of 25.

Will Arsenal sign Gabriel Jesus from Man City?

“(Signing Jesus would be) a step in the right direction. Arsenal are crying out for a centre-forward,” says Bent, the Gunners-supporting former Spurs striker.

“Alexandre Lacazette is leaving, Eddie Nketiah is close to signing a new deal but is he the answer long term? Not quite yet, I think he needs someone there with him.

“I think Gabriel Jesus would be perfect. His record is decent, he’s got nearly 100 (goals) for Manchester City. He’s showed, if you give him a sustained run in the team playing at centre-forward, I think he’ll score the goals.

“The right age. The right character. Yeah, I’d love to see him at Arsenal.”

According to The Sun, Arsenal are willing to hand Jesus a £190,000-a-week contract at the Emirates Stadium, while shelling out a transfer fee in the region of £50 million.

Hardly the sort of sums you’d find down the back of the sofa but Jesus certainly seems to represent better value for money than the injury-prone Calvert-Lewin, the unproven Scamacca or the wildly inconsistent Morata.
