
Son Heung-Min is two goals away from claiming a 73-year-old Tottenham Hotspur record and becoming the north London side’s all-time top-scorer against Brentford on Saturday.
Spurs visit the Bees in the Premier League this weekend as the fight for Champions League qualification continues. Antonio Conte’s men could find themselves out of the top-four by the time they kick-off at the Brentford Community Stadium with Arsenal in the 12:30 clash.

The Gunners moved level on points with Tottenham after winning 4-2 away to Chelsea on Wednesday night. Mikel Arteta’s side could now again apply pressure on Spurs when they host Manchester United in the lunchtime affair, with Conte’s outfit playing in the evening.

Tottenham have a stellar record over Brentford over their 16 meetings in all competitions in the post-World War II era. Spurs have won on 10 occasions, including each of their last three, and are unbeaten since March 1948. The Bees won 2-0 in an old Division Two clash.
Spurs and Brentford have only previously met in the Premier League once, with Tottenham winning 2-0 in December. Sergi Canos broke the deadlock with an own goal on 12 minutes, before Son struck just after the hour mark to hand Conte his second win as Spurs manager.
Son had also scored against Brentford in a Carabao Cup tie in January 2021 that Tottenham won 2-0. Moussa Sissoko opened the scoring after 12 minutes during the semi-final before Son sealed a Jose Mourinho side’s place in the final, which Manchester City would win 1-0.

Son is the only current Tottenham player to have scored for Spurs against Brentford before ahead of Saturday’s encounter. Nuno Espirito Santo sold Sissoko to Watford for £3m last August. The 32-year-old has captained the Hornets since October, and has scored twice.

The pair account for two of the 23 different players who have scored for Spurs against the Bees since WW2, though. They also account for three of the 33 goals Tottenham have over Brentford in their last 16 clashes. Son is additionally just one of six to have scored multiple.
Len Duquemin holds the record for the most Tottenham goals against Brentford since the end of World War 2. He struck four times in six games against the Bees between 1947 and 1949. And of those four, three came during his first meeting with a Division Two hat-trick.
Eddie Baily broke the deadlock at White Hart Lane before Duquemin stretched the margin to win 4-0. His fourth and final effort against the Bees came during Spurs’ 4-1 away win in Division Two in August 1949 between strikes from Les Bennett and a Les Medley double.
Son could now match or eclipse Duquemin’s 74-year-old record of four Tottenham goals against Brentford with a brace or better on Saturday. The £22m former Bayer Leverkusen forward will arrive in west London amid a rich vein of form during Premier League games.

The South Korea megastar has six goals in his last four top-flight outings and an assist. His haul has taken Son to 17 goals and seven assists in 29 league games so far this term. Alan Shearer also described his hat-trick display at Aston Villa as ‘perfect’ earlier this month.
