Pedro Acosta has addressed the speculation about his future, following reports suggesting that he’s already agreed to a move to Ducati.
Reports emerged that Marc Marquez had signed off on Acosta’s transfer, paving the way for him to join the factory team rather than heading to VR46. It’s understood that Acosta believes he can’t reach his goals with KTM.
The news surfaced on a day full of movement in the rider market, with Fabio Quartararo set for Honda and Jorge Martin reportedly taking his place at Yamaha.
Pedro Acosta says he’s not in talks with anyone over a move

Acosta addressed the rumours in an interview with the Pont Group, later posted on Manuel Pecino’s YouTube channel. While there’s no exact date for when it was recorded, if he has signed with Ducati, it likely didn’t come out of nowhere.
He also mentioned that he planned to take his time before making a decision. With new regulations set to shake up the pecking order in 2027, what matters now might not matter as much then.
Testing for the new season will begin soon enough. Riders will have a better sense of how things are shaping up after testing sessions start up again, especially with Pirelli prototypes scheduled to be introduced mid-year.
Acosta maintains that negotiations haven’t begun because his focus remains on this season.
“It’s all a lottery, isn’t it?” he said. “In the end, you have to take it easy. You shouldn’t make rash decisions. I think the best thing to do is to start the year, see how each rider reacts and then we’ll have time to think about that.
“Right now, to tell you the truth, we haven’t spoken to anyone. In the end I think I have a very good team behind me.” Acosta added: “We have to focus on getting a good result in ’26 which is what will make manufacturers take notice of me.”
Pedro Acosta’s manager Albert Valera in apparent disagreement with rider over MotoGP approach
Earlier this month, Acosta’s manager suggested they wouldn’t wait for testing before making a decision, opting instead to make a call based on team personnel. It was an interesting stance from Acosta himself.
Albert Valera warned that the market could move quickly enough to force their hand, and Thursday’s developments might be seen as evidence of that.
Acosta remains one of the most sought-after riders in MotoGP, but potential suitors will be wary. Waiting too long could mean missing out on alternatives if he chooses another path.
Valera wasn’t patient with Aprilia when it came to Jorge Martin, and he might take a similar approach with Acosta now.
