Paul Scholes said on BT Sport 1 (9:38pm, February 21, 2021) that Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino has been a big disappointment this season.

The Manchester United legend was not impressed by the performance of the Brazil international forward during Liverpool’s 2-0 defeat to Everton at Anfield in the Merseyside derby at the weekend.

Scholes added that Firmino has been erratic in his finishing for Liverpool this season.

The Englishman said on BT Sport 1 (9:38pm, February 21, 2021): “The big disappointment for me has been Firmino. As great a footballer he is, some of the chances yesterday, he was smashing everything.”

Scholes added: “As good a player he is, he has been so erratic in his finishing.”

Disappointing season for Roberto Firmino?

There have been occasions when Firmino has played well and has scored important goals, but the Brazil international forward – who has been on the books of Liverpool since the summer of 2015 when he joined from Hoffenheim for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £29 million – has not been very consistent.

Against Everton at the weekend, the 29-year-old had a shot blocked, and although he worked hard, he was not in the box enough and could not find killer passes.

According to WhoScored, Firmino took four shots but only one was on target and played just one key pass.

So far this season, the attacker has scored six goals and provided five assists in 25 Premier League matches for Liverpool, according to WhoScored.
