Harry Redknapp criticised Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino on Sky Sports News (12:16pm, February 13, 2021).
The former Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United manager, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, believes that Firmino’s standards have dropped this season.
The Englishman said that the 29-year-old Brazilian forward is not the same player he was a year ago.
Redknapp said on Sky Sports News (12:16pm, February 13, 2021): “Firmino, what has he done? He is nowhere near the player we saw last year.”
Roberto Firmino needs to step up his game
Firmino is a very important player for Liverpool, but the Brazilian is not having the best of times.
The Brazilian is showing moments of class, but the former Hoffenheim star is unable to influence a game of football over the course of 90 minutes.
Against Leicester City on Saturday afternoon, Firmino provided a brilliant assist for Mohamed Salah’s goal, but he could not make much of an impact otherwise.
According to WhoScored, Firmino has made 22 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool so far this season, scoring six goals and providing five assists in the process.
The Brazilian made 34 starts and four substitute appearances in the league for the Reds last season, scoring nine goals and providing eight assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
