The former West Brom defender has shared his thoughts on Carlos Corberan’s qualities as a manager.

As reported by Express & Star, Paul Robinson has voiced his opinion of West Brom boss Carlos Corberan.

Robinson himself represented the Baggies for six seasons between 2003 and 2009. He made over 200 appearances for the club, and spent three seasons in the Premier League during his time at the Hawthorns, before moving on to Bolton Wanderers.

On the subject of Corberan, Robinson has been effusive in his praise, saying “he seems to get teams going in the right direction…he gets his players firing, he gets his players in a good place.” He also noted that the coach is facing some tough challenges, adding that “he’s not going to have the money to get players to help the squad.” Whether or not Corberan can rise to overcome these financial obstacles will dictate the success of West Brom’s season.

Carlos Corberan’s task

A lack of spending power is a very present challenge for Corberan, as he must still seek to bolster his squad in this summer transfer window. The club are now facing their third consecutive season of absence from the top flight. The longer they remain in the Championship, the harder it will become to get out of the division as the club’s parachute payments stop and their appeal to quality players diminishes.

Corberan must find a way to overcome these obstacles to make West Brom truly competitive again. This will be a big season for the Baggies, and is certainly shaping up to be a challenging campaign.
