Arsenal buying Chelsea players has become a bit of the norm in recent years and it’s something that hasn’t worked out for them.
The latest name off the London cab rank is the non-stop engine of N’Golo Kante’s – there are suggestions Arsenal are keen on the 31-year-old and Chelsea are open to selling the £30 million player this summer.
Kante has one-year left on his current deal at Stamford Bridge, so something has to give for the two-time Premier League winner, who has been one of the best defensive midfielders of the last ten years.

One man that has constantly played alongside him, including winning the 2018 World Cup, is Juventus’ returning star, Paul Pogba in the colours of France.
The duo couldn’t be more opposite in their styles, but back in May 2021, Pogba did label Kante as ‘the most beloved player in the history of football’ and someone who has ‘everything’ to his game, as he told beIN SPORTS.
“He’s the most beloved player in the history of football,” said Pogba. “You’ve got to love him, you cannot hate him, it is not possible. He is humble, kind, and professional. He will never complain, he will work.
“He’s got everything. He’s good technically, with good passing quality, and he’s everywhere on the pitch. I even say he appears out of the ground! You don’t see him, and – poof – he’s out! He gets the ball, he has the finish. He’s everywhere.
“To have a player like that by your side, what more can you ask for?”

SHOULD ARSENAL SIGN KANTE?
A number of years ago, Kante was the type of midfielder Arsenal have been crying out for, but with the Chelsea star recently hitting his 31st birthday, should they still push for him?
Well, class is permanent and form is temporary and there is no reason why a player like him wouldn’t elevate this current Arsenal side if he were to join them.
The issue with the David Luiz, Petr Cech and Willian signings is that they didn’t either have the reputation Kante does now, or in Cech’s case, he was past his best.
It’s understandable that signing a Chelsea player who is 30+ could be off-putting for those Arsenal fans because they are probably sick and tired of these transfers happening, then going pear-shaped.
But, if the Gunners can secure Kante’s talents for a healthy fee, then there is no reason why a player of his ilk can’t help the club secure Champions League football next season, even if it’s as a squad player.
