Paul Merson has reacted to the powerful opener from Pedro Porro for Tottenham Hotspur in their 3-3 draw against Southampton.
As the Saints left acres of space for the 23-year-old to run into on the right flank, he received an inch-perfect pass from Son Heung-min and slammed the ball onto the crossbar and inside the back of the net. The Spaniard’s finish was one that would even have made Harry Kane proud.
Arsenal legend Paul Merson commented on the strike from Tottenham right wing-back Pedro Porro against Southampton.
Paul Merson reacts as Tottenham defender Pedro Porro makes it 1-0 vs Southampton
Since signing for Spurs on loan in the January transfer window, the former Manchester City talent has been in and out of the side, especially initially after a poor debut against Leicester City.
But lately, the ‘fantastic’ Porro has been showing flashes of brilliance at his new club.
And against Southampton, Pedro Porro showed Tottenham fans and Paul Merson why the hype around his name has been constant since he went to Sporting CP with an emphatic strike.

“Porro was all on his own. He had no one near him. All he had to do was hit the target. The game was going nowhere and if anything Southampton were slightly the better side”, he said on Sky Sports.
Porro could be Conte’s dream right wing-back
If there is one thing one needs to know about Antonio Conte, it is that he adores wing-backs, who have been a staple in every side of his.
While Emerson Royal was often blasted for being a disappointing attacking presence, the same critique cannot be attributed to Tottenham defender Pedro Porro, who showed the threat he offers against Southampton.
The more one watches Porro in action for the Lilywhites, the likelier it becomes that Conte must be chuffed with his arrival.
