Paul Merson has given his verdict on Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez ahead of the match against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

The former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit has noted what he likes about Nunez and has highlighted his attributes.

So, what has Paul Merson said about Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez? Let’s take a look.

Paul Merson praises Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez

Well, Paul Merson has been raving about Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez ahead of the Premier League match against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has suggested that Nunez may not play against Arsenal in North London on Sunday.

The 24-year-old Uruguay international striker sustained a foot injury in the Premier League game against Chelsea at Anfield.

Former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit Merson rates Nunez highly and has outlined what he likes about him.

Nunez has made 14 starts and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool this season. The striker has scored seven goals and given seven assists in those games.

Merson told Sky Sports about Nunez: “Any time, and I say that because he doesn’t hide. He does not hide. The biggest compliment I can give him – people miss chances and you see them never getting in the box. The balls go wide and they’re on the edge of the box waiting for a pull-back. But even then when he’s hit the post three times and missed a penalty, he’s still in there. He’s the one bursting a gut to get in there.

“For me, he gets in my team every day of the week because he is a handful. He’s willing to run, he makes runs, he’s a team player. For me, I hope it clicks for him. I say that though, he’s got 11 goals and playing for a team going for the quadruple.

“He’s doing something right, I’m a big fan of his. Takes a lot of character not to hide and he doesn’t. He’s a midfielder’s dream as well, he stretches the defence and gives the likes of Mac Allister more time on the ball. So he’s a massive piece for them, massive.”

My View: Darwin Nunez a big player for Liverpool

In my opinion, Darwin Nunez is one of the best and most important players for Liverpool.

While it is true that the 24-year-old Uruguay international striker can be annoying when he misses chances, but, as Paul Merson has noted, he never gives up and does not lose his confidence and determination.

Nunez is always a handful for the opposition defenders and never lets them have a moment’s peace.

The striker is quick and links up well with his fellow Liverpool attackers. If he continues to work with his finishing in training, then, maybe, just maybe, he could become the complete player for the Reds.
