After Arsenal came from 2 goals down to beat Bournemouth 3-2, Paul Merson said that just like when many were doubting Leicester City’s title credentials, the same is the case with Mikel Arteta’s side.
However, the reality is that the Gunners continue to prove that they are the real deal and have no plans to surrender their lead at the top of the table anytime soon.
Considering a lot of fans and pundits alike still expect Manchester City to win the Premier League this season, Paul Merson compared some of the scepticism to the same as was around Leicester when it comes to Arsenal after they beat Bournemouth.

For instance, Gary Neville still expects City to get over the line, which is understandable but he has also predicted that Manchester United will finish above them in 2nd place, which tells you all you need to know.
Now, Paul Merson has likened Arsenal to Leicester City during the 2015/2016 campaign when they became the champions of England against all odds after they drew against Bournemouth on Saturday.
“It’s getting a bit like the Leicester situation. ‘You know, they’ll fall in a minute’ and another game goes and another game goes. What will be important is when it gets down to the last 7-8 games, it’s when those games are live on the telly”, he said on Sky Sports via Football Daily.
“It’s when you’re kicking off. If Arsenal start kicking off first and playing before Man City, massive psychological advantage. You get them points and the other team have to win just to be within 4 points.”
Especially seeing how Arsenal came back against Bournemouth to win, Paul Merson is right in saying that underestimating them, as was the case with Leicester City is simply a case of being in denial.
