Villarreal defender Pau Torres has told a press conference – as per TuttoMercatoWeb – that he has an offer from his current club on the table and is more than happy to stay, amid interest from Tottenham and Manchester United.
Torres, 25, has been a stalwart for Villarreal over the last couple of seasons – after initially joining the Yellow Submarine in 2018. In his first season at the club, he went on loan to Malaga – but has since been first choice.
The Spain international openly admitted to rejecting a move to Tottenham last summer. Now, he is of interest to Spurs once again, and Manchester United. New reports claim Tottenham have tabled a £42.5million bid.

But that he prefers a move to Manchester United. Torres has since spoken out himself this week about a potential move – but says he has a new deal on the table from Villarreal and is more than happy to stay.
“I am lucky to be in a club that considers me important, to have a valid contract and an offer to renew. We will see what happens in the future but I am very calm. I look no further,” Torres said, as per TMW.
“We have competed with the best teams in Europe. It is what everyone would like to do and succeeding with your hometown team is even greater. I know that I can stay here for many more years because love is mutual.”
Torres happy to stay amid Tottenham and Manchester United interest
It is a blow for both clubs. Manchester United desperately need better quality in the middle of the defence, and reports might have given United fans hope. For Spurs, a left-footed central defender would have been ideal.
Antonio Conte is said to want competition for Ben Davies and Torres certainly would have given him that. But after a wonderful season, in which Villarreal reached the Champions League semi-finals, he now looks set to stay.
