New England Patriots star Rhamondre Stevenson was left teary-eyed as he paid tribute to his late dad, just days ahead of Super Bowl LX where they will face Seattle Seahawks in his first Super Bowl appearance.

The running back took the opportunity to highlight the impact his father has had on his career amid a season that got off to a rocky start.

Stevenson’s father, Robert, passed away in March last year, aged 54 and Stevenson missed some of the OTAs under new coach at the time, Mike Vrabel. Once the 2025 season kicked off, he struggled on-field, fumbling the ball three times in the first five games of the NFL season.

He was then sidelined through a toe injury with rookie TrVeyon Henderson’s form putting his starting role for the Patriots under threat.

But Stevenson has since turned his form around, crediting his hard work and determination to his late father.

Speaking ahead of Super Bowl 60 at the Levi’s Stadium, he said: “Honestly, it was my dad, bro, rest in peace to him. He’s been through way more adversity than I’ve ever been through, and he just kept pushing, man.

“A lot of my adversity was coming on the football field. And as I said, he had real life. things. He had to push through and things like that.

“So me not pushing through would be a disservice to, you know, who he raised me to be.

“So just staying consistent, not getting discouraged, and just keep my foot on the pedal.”

Speaking previously after the Patriots’ win over Baltimore Ravens, he said: “We’re finally winning, and I feel like he has the best seat in the house now from up above, so I know he’s proud, I know he’s looking down, smiling and just proud of all of us.”

The New England Patriots will face the Seattle Seahawks at the Levi’s Stadium on Sunday evening at 6:30 pm Eastern time (11:30 pm in the UK).
