Patrice Evra reserved special praise for Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka after his side’s much-discussed 3-2 victory against Bournemouth on Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE YouTube channel.

Of course, the Manchester United legend did not rave about the display against the £110,000-a-week man’s display against Gary O’Neil’s side, considering he started on the bench. However, the former French left-back did give the 30-year-old his due credit for silencing his detractors this campaign.

Considering it seemed like a majority of fans and pundits alike deemed Granit Xhaka surplus to requirements before the start of the campaign, Patrice Evra was extremely complimentary of him while discussing the latest Arsenal win against Bournemouth.

Pundits such as Kevin Campbell and Ian Wright have highlighted the marked improvement in the former Borussia Monchengladbach lynchpin’s game, while Martin Keown said he is ‘not getting the credit he deserves.’

Well, Patrice Evra seemingly heard the Arsenal legend’s comments and dedicated a section of thoughts on their latest win against Bournemouth to praise Granit Xhaka on ‘Vibe With Five.’

“I want to have a shoutout to [Granit] Xhaka because I remember he used to be booed at the stadium. I told that story when I was watching [Thierry] Henry call me and say, ‘I can’t watch Arsenal.’ I  remember he turned on the TV and he sees Xhaka with the armband, and he turned, off the TV.”

“You need to give credit to those players because that’s when they showed they’ve got character. I know we’re talking about [Thomas] Partey but I want to say, ‘a big, big shout-out to Xhaka.’

Patrice Evra is right in lauding Granit Xhaka, who was surprisingly benched against Bournemouth for Arsenal as the way he has managed to emerge as a fan favourite is extremely impressive.

The FA Cup winner’s turnaround, as praised by Ally McCoist as well should inspire players at other clubs at different levels too.
