Pundit Kevin Campbell has showered praise onto Granit Xhaka for the way he has turned things around at Arsenal.

Since joining the Gunners for £30 million (Sky Sports) in 2016, Xhaka has been a polarising figure.

While the Swiss international has always clearly been a talented footballer, lapses of concentration and moments of madness have often let him down.

To the point where many Arsenal fans, including pundit Kevin Campbell himself may have questioned whether the best Granit Xhaka would ever be unleashed at the Emirates Stadium.

In the 2022/2023 season, it certainly has, with the 30-year-old thriving further up the pitch.

Popping up inside the box and linking attacks, Xhaka has been an extremely useful component of the Arsenal attack, which is often credited due to the brilliance of Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus.

As the former Borussia Monchengladbach man seems to have turned a corner, he has a new fan in the well-known pundit.

Pundit Kevin Campbell has been extremely impressed with how Granit Xhaka has managed to redeem himself in an Arsenal shirt.

“He’s [Granit Xhaka] definitely changed my mindset, I’ve got to say that. I’ve got to give credit where it’s due.”

“Granit Xhaka, 9 months ago wasn’t the same player that he is now. He was improving but he still had fouls in him, still wasn’t consistent.”

“But I’ve got to say, this season, the manager’s [Mikel Arteta] challenged him and he’s come back and been a revelation.”

“Obviously, he’s playing a little further forward, which helps. But he’s been nothing short of remarkable with what he’s doing”, the pundit told The Highbury Squad.

Pundit is right in giving the in-form midfielder his due credit

Considering it is easy to get spellbound by the silky players at Arsenal like Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, it’s only right that an under-the-radar contributor like Granit Xhaka gets his due credit as well.

Pundit Kevin Campbell is also correct in pointing out the tremendous redemption story of Xhaka, who seemed doomed in an Arsenal shirt at one point, especially after being stripped of the captaincy.

Fast forward to the present and the Swiss midfielder is a fan favourite.
