Patrice Evra has raved about the winning mentality shown by Arsenal in their 3-2 comeback victory against Bournemouth.
Despite trailing by 2 goals in the 57th minute, goals from Thomas Partey, Ben White and a last-minute Reiss Nelson winner meant the Mikel Arteta’s side maintained their 5-point lead at the top of the Premier League table. Of course, the Gunners have a reputation of being guilty of slipping up when all eyes are on them to deliver.
But Patrice Evra has said that against Bournemouth and on a number of occasions this season, Arsenal have showcased a change in mentality that makes them champions-elect.
Patrice Evra raves about the Arsenal mentality after Bournemouth win
Right after the contest, pundits like Paul Merson and Alvin Martin backed the league leaders to go all the way, as they continue to prove that they are indeed the real deal.
Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE YouTube channel, Patrice Evra said the same as he praised the winning mentality displayed by Arsenal against Bournemouth and in general this season.

“This year, Arsenal deserve to win the league, the way they play. The personality, the character they showed here [against Bournemouth], like Rio [Ferdinand] said, after the [Manchester] City game, everyone was like, ‘Oh!’. They went to Aston Villa, they fight back, they win the game and even day before yesterday, this is a winning mentality. This is a champion mentality.”
This Arsenal team is built of sterner stuff
While it may seem harsh, the club’s reputation of having soft underbellies is ultimately their very own doing.
But as Patrice Evra implied, this Arsenal team cannot be associated with that idea, as they showed against Bournemouth and on a host of other occasions that their mentality is on another level.
With the chance of ending the club’s 19-year-wait for a Premier League trophy, this bunch seem to conjure something out of nothing, which is the mark of a title-winning team.
