Tottenham are reportedly the closest team to signing Napoli attacker Lorenzo Insigne, according to journalist Fabio Santini.

Speaking on Il Processo via Area Napoli, the Italian reporter revealed that the 30-year-old attacker is unlikely to sign a new contract with the Serie A side, with Spurs the side most likely to win the race for the winger.

Insigne has been one of the best forwards in Italy for some time, with the Napoli captain leading the Neapolitan side to Europe over the past few years.

However, the forward now looks set to depart the club in 2022, with Tottenham one of the favourites.

The attacker, who earns a reported £140,000-a-week, has been linked with numerous sides across the continent in recent months. Yet according to Santini, it is Spurs who are leading the chase for the Italian international.

The reporter said when asked who are the favourites to sign Insigne next year: “The closest team to Lorenzo Insigne is Tottenham. Their executive, Fabio Paratici is courting him closely.”

Insigne would be dynamic attacking option for Tottenham

The Euro 2020 winger will be a luxury option for any side who claims Insigne’s signature in 2022, and for Tottenham, the attacker will be a player who can bring something different to the Spurs frontline.

Indeed, the winger is as clinical a finisher as they come whilst also having the ability to bring other players into the attack from smart passing and runs out wide.

And alongside the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, Insigne could make Tottenham’s attack one of the most entertaining and devastating in the Premier League.
