According to Voetbal24, Arsenal are keen on signing Noa Lang in January.
The Dutch winger has been making waves in Belgium. He’s been shining for Club Brugge and his performances have even seen some compare him to Brazil superstar Neymar.
Lang may be shining in Belgium, but he started his career in the Netherlands with Ajax where he worked under former Arsenal ace Marc Overmars.
Unfortunately, Lang didn’t quite make the grade at Ajax and he was sold by Overmars, but that is a move he has since expressed regret over, calling it ‘painful’.
What’s been said?
Overmars spoke to De Telegraaf about Lang in January just a few months after selling him.
“We did not want to rent him out again after his rental to FC Twente. Only his view of playing time with us was limited,” said Overmars.
“He had Dusan Tadic in front of him. And also players such as Quincy Promes, Antony and David Neres. Despite that, we wanted to extend, but we also couldn’t manage it financially.
“Sometimes it is better to say goodbye, this is also good for Ajax. Not everyone from our youth becomes a basic player in the first team, that is impossible, but the youth academy has to be paid.
“Then it is also good to have a category of players for whom you receive millions, who just don’t make it to the first. No matter how painful that is sometimes, because he wanted to succeed at Ajax. Ajax is really his club. But he has made a good start in Belgium and we all wish him that.”

Arsenal’s next Dutch star
Arsenal have had some fantastic players from the Netherlands over the years.
Dennis Bergkamp, Marc Overmars and Robin van Persie are amongst the three most iconic, and Lang could be the next player to join this list.
The Gunners are reportedly very keen on the winger and he looks like a top talent who would fit into Mikel Arteta’s side perfectly.
The Gunners could soon have another Dutch star on their hands here.
