Leeds United were heavily linked with a move to sign Club Brugge winger Noa Lang this summer – and now he is being likened to Neymar.
Lang, 22, came up through the Ajax system before spending last season on loan at Club Brugge.
With 17 goals and 11 assists in all competitions last season, Lang became a star in Belgium.
Club Brugge turned Lang’s move permanent and had immediate interest from Leeds.
No deal happened though, and Lang already has four goals and four assists in 10 games this season.
Leeds’ interest in signing Lang
Rumours of Lang heading to Leeds have been swirling for some time now.
Voetbal Belgie reported in August that Lang had actually agreed terms with Leeds.
Come deadline day though, it was Daniel James who had joined the Whites and not Lang as Victor Orta landed a winger.
The Athletic have since claimed that Marcelo Bielsa abandoned the pursuit of Lang, preferring to sign James instead.
Lang’s agent claims Neymar comparison
Lang’s agent Bart Baving has now been speaking to Calciomercato about his client.
Baving unsurprisingly bigged up his client, claiming he possesses ‘excellent technique, dribbling and vision’.
Baving added that he has heard people comparing Lang to Neymar since Club Brugge faced Paris Saint-Germain last week.
Now we’re in no place to question Bielsa’s wisdom, but if Lang ends up anything like Neymar, Leeds could rue missing out.
“Noa is Noa, he has always had this type of playing style,” said Baving. “He always works hard and has excellent technique, dribbling and vision. He is also an excellent decision maker and a neat finisher. He is also a generous player, anything but selfish. I’ve heard a lot of people say he looks like Neymar, especially after the PSG match,” he added.
