Liverpool are currently having to navigate a tricky period off the pitch ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s departure.

The German’s announcement, months before he will leave, has allowed the powers that be to take their time in finding the right man for the job.

But when it comes to summer transfers, how do Liverpool go about it, without definitely knowing who will be in charge? Especially, with Michael Edwards returning to old ground.

Whether it’s Xabi Alonso or another left-field name, it’s going to be interesting to see the areas Liverpool build on via the transfer market.

Owen Hargreaves thinks one man thriving at Fulham is good enough to showcase his stuff at a top-four team and a place like Anfield – Antonee Robinson

It’s been suggested by the former Bayern Munich star that the Fulham left-back is currently performing at an ‘elite’ level for his team, as he told Premier League Productions (18/03/24 at 5:20 pm).

Over the weekend, the USMNT international, who was on Everton’s books before leaving in 2019 without making an appearance, produced a Man of the Match display during Fulham’s win over Spurs.

Antonee Robinson assisted the opening goal to take his tally to six for the campaign, with Owen Hargreaves backing him to go on and do much greater things in his career.

“To get a fullback that can cover that much distance is tough,” said Hargreaves. “He is almost covering the whole left-hand side on his own.

“But if you can get these numbers, if you can get six assists by March, then you put yourself in an elite category. He is performing at an elite level. He is always fit and always plays. I think getting assists, he will be absolutely delighted with the numbers.

“I think he could (play for one of the top four in the country). I think he has the capacity and capability. He is still relatively a young player. If he is adding those types of numbers in a team that isn’t the most attacking, then it makes you think he could step up one more level.

“He is in a good place at Fulham right now. Performing very well.”

Liverpool’s methods in the transfer market

Over the years, FSG have put money on the table for Klopp, but it hasn’t been the crazy spending of their rivals.

That’s why it’s going to be interesting to see what level of funds the new manager will get when he walks through the doors.

With Liverpool only one point behind leaders Arsenal in the table, there is every chance that they can become champions of England again.

That will boost the current value of the squad and probably result in less work needing to be done this summer.

Either way, a fascinating and currently unknown summer transfer window awaits those in Liverpool colours.
