Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter to rumours that Nuno Espirito Santo is planning on hiring a first-team strength and conditioning coach.
It has been well-documented that Nuno is someone who likes to work alongside a large group of staff, although that hasn’t happened at Spurs yet.
But Football London have claimed that Tottenham are looking to hire a fitness coach to work on the health of the players.
Spurs fans have provided a mixed reaction to these rumours, with some thinking it’s long overdue, whilst others questioned why Antonio Conte wasn’t allowed this when he was being linked with the job.
There’s no doubt that the man who Nuno replaced in the Spurs dugout, Jose Mourinho, would have worked the players to the ground during his time in North London.
And Danny Rose even recently admitted that you could never be a ‘bad trainer’ under Mauricio Pochettino.
So, this isn’t a case of the previous coaches not getting the players to their peak, from a fitness level, but them possibly getting the much-needed help in that department that they need after so many changes.
Spurs have proven that when they are aggressive and pressing high without the ball then they are at their best.
After watching Mourinho produce more defensive-minded performances, it’s going to be interesting to see the tactical tweaks Nuno makes because there will be a lot of talk about the club’s style of play.
Nonetheless, here is a selection of Spurs fans reacting to rumours they could hire a first-team strength and conditioning coach:
