We all love to see our players thriving on the international stage.

Leeds fans love the fact that Kalvin Phillips is a star for England, West Ham fans feel the same about Declan Rice and although they may feel differently now, Aston Villa supporters were immensely proud to see Jack Grealish shining for England over the summer.

Leeds had another international debutant to boast about this week as Raphinha represented Brazil for the first time, and it’s fair to say he’s made quite the impression already.

Indeed, in just his second appearance for the five-time World Cup winners, Raphinha netted a brace against World Cup quarter-finalists Uruguay, well and truly announcing himself on the international stage.

As you can imagine, Leeds United took great pride in this fact, posting all about the winger’s showing on social media, but unfortunately for the Whites, Leeds fans weren’t the only ones to take notice.

Indeed, Liverpool supporters also had a keen eye on this performance, and they were completely sold on Raphinha after this display, waxing-lyrical about him on social media.

It’s no secret that the Reds are fans of the Brazilian. In fact, just this week both Fabinho and Raphinha’s agent have spoken about a potential move to Anfield for the former Rennes star, and after his star performance against Uruguay, we’d have to say a move away from Elland Road looks a lot more likely.

While Leeds fans have known for a long time just how good Raphinha is, the wider footballing world is now waking up to this fact, and a standout performance for Brazil is the perfect way to put yourself in the shop window.

Don’t be surprised if more and more scouts turn up at Elland Road to watch the winger once described as ‘outstanding’ because he’s the talk of the town after his international exploits.

Victor Orta already had a battle on his hands to keep the 24-year-old at the club beyond this season and his performances for Brazil have done Leeds and Orta absolutely no favours on that front.
