Martin Keown has praised Arsenal on talkSPORT (10:54am, November 18, 2022) for promoting Gunners official Edu.
Arsenal have announced on their official website today that they have appointed Edu as their first-ever Sporting Director.
The former Brazil international was working as the Technical Director.
Edu had been in that role since the summer of 2019 when he left the Brazilian FA.
And now the former Arsenal star has been promoted to Sporting Director at the Gunners.
Edu will now assume ‘over-arching responsibility’ for all of Arsenal’s Academy activities, in addition to his existing responsibilities across men’s and women’s football.

Keown said: “Outstanding. He thoroughly deserves that role.”
Deserved promotion
In our view, Edu deserves the promotion at Arsenal that he has now got.
The Brazilian did a really wonderful job as the Technical Director.
Yes, things did not go smoothly in the beginning of his time at the Emirates Stadium, as Arsenal made one or two disappointing signings, but it was a process.
It has always been a process.
Arsenal are now a club on the up who have recruited good players in recent windows, such as Gabriel Jesus, and are at the top of the Premier League table at the moment.
And Edu deserves a lot of credit for that.
