Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has hailed Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon as ‘outstanding’.
The Hoops lock horns with Robbie Neilson’s side at Celtic Park this evening.
Gordon, 38, is showing no signs of slowing down between the sticks for Hearts and has been in inspired form this season.
The Scotland international has been ever-present in goal so far this term after helping the Edinburgh side gain promotion from the Scottish Championship earlier this year.
Gordon returning to Celtic to face Ange’s side
Celtic fans will know all about Gordon from his time in Glasgow from 2014 to 2020.
He joined from Sunderland and went on to play 242 games in all competitions, winning the league title five times in the process.
Postecoglou has heaped special praise on the veteran stopper and said, as per his side’s official club website:
“They’re a good team, have been consistent and have an outstanding goalkeeper who’s been in great form this year.
“As the table shows, they’ve been one of the more consistent sides in the league and have their strengths like all other teams.
“For us, it’s about the football we play. We want to be the team that goes out there and dominates the game and creates opportunities, so the focus is well and truly on us.”
Celtic looking to beat Gordon’s Hearts to close gap on Rangers
Celtic go into tonight’s clash against Hearts in good spirits and are unbeaten in their last eight league games.
Rangers’ win at Hibernian last night has seen them rise seven points above their bitter rivals. However, the Hoops can close the gap to four with a win against Hearts.
Familiar face Gordon will be looking to keep his former employers at bay as he returns to Celtic Park.
Hearts are 3rd in the league table and can go above Celtic if they can pick up a victory.
