Wes Morgan has praised reported Arsenal target Djed Spence on BBC One (6pm, February 6, 2022) for his performance for Nottingham Forest against Leicester City.

Spence, on loan from Middlesbrough, featured for Forest in the FA Cup fourth-round tie against Premier League club Leicester at the City Ground on Sunday.

The 21-year-old right-back scored in the 61st minute and had a very good game on a personal level.

Forest won the tie 4-1.

Spence was very good at the back and looked brilliant going on the attack, and showed why Arsenal are so keen on him.

Arsenal want Djed Spence

Goal reported this week that Arsenal want to sign Middlesbrough right-back Spence in the summer of 2022.

The Gunners reportedly want cover for Japan international right-back Takehiro Tomiyasu and are eyeing a move for the 21-year-old.

The Mirror reported last month that Arsenal were planing to make a bid for the youngster in the January transfer window.

Former Leicester City defender Morgan was following the match on Sunday, and the BBC Sport pundit was impressed by Spence.

Morgan said about Spence on BBC One (6pm, February 6, 2022): “Spence has been outstanding all afternoon. He is full of confidence. He is a constant threat.”

Encouraging for Gunners

In our view, Spence’s performance against Leicester will encourage Arsenal.

The 21-year-old showed against the Foxes that he can hold his own against Premier League clubs, and we think that the Gunners should seriously consider a bid for him in the summer of 2022.
