As we approach the summer, all eyes are on Newcastle with the Magpies expected to embark on another lavish spending spree.
Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi spent over £90m in January, and with the backing of the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, they are set to spend even more this summer.
One player who could arrive at St James’ Park is Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, as the Mirror believe the Dane is wanted by Eddie Howe.
The report claims that Newcastle are planning a £30m bid for the former Bayern Munich destroyer, who has shone in England.
What’s the story?
Well, if this deal does materialise, it would presumably come with the seal of approval from Alan Shearer, who has praised Hojbjerg before.
Back in November 2020, the £15m man delivered a masterclass against Manchester City, as Spurs recorded a 2-0 win under José Mourinho.
It earned Hojbjerg a place in Shearer’s Team of the Week, before he went on to write the following on the Premier League’s official website.

“He was outstanding once more and bossed the midfield against Manchester City.”
Clearly, the Newcastle legend was impressed by the Denmark international.
So far this season, Hojbjerg has continued to dazzle under Antonio Conte, after initially struggling under Nuno Espirito Santo.
The 26-year-old has made 43 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals while also providing four assists.
Newcastle must sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
In our view, this could be the most important signing Newcastle make this summer – not the most exciting by any means, but by far a necessary addition.

Every side needs a midfielder like Hojbjerg, who ensures that everything is kept tight and compact in the middle to allow the more creative players to flourish.
Chelsea have N’Golo Kante, Manchester City have Rodri, and Newcastle would have their own midfield stalwart if they can sign the Dane.
Keep an eye on this saga, as anything could happen this summer.
