Very few players can hold a candle to Robert Lewandowski’s goalscoring record in 2022, yet Tammy Abraham is beginning to make a case for himself with AS Roma.
The England international this weekend bagged a brace in the Derby della Capitale in what will go down as one of the most iconic Roma performances in some time, with Abraham leading the way for Jose Mourinho’s side to win 3-0 in the Italian capital.
And as per GIFN, the performance saw Abraham reach a new level many would not have expected from the former Chelsea striker, with the 24-year-old now the second-highest goalscorer in Europe’s top-five leagues in 2022, more than the likes of Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane.
Abraham wanted Arsenal move before Roma offer in 2021

With 23 goals in all competitions, Abraham has been the highest-scoring Englishman in football this season across all top-flight leagues, yet it is easy to forget that just last year the striker was keen to move to Arsenal.
According to the Athletic, the attacker told teammates at Chelsea that his dream last summer was to sign for Arsenal, with Abraham a boyhood fan of the north London club and the Gunners, at the time, looking for a striker.
Fast-forward to today, and whilst Mikel Arteta’s side are doing exceptional in the Premier League as the Gunners stand on the brink of a top-four finish, a no. 9 is exactly what Arsenal are lacking if they are to reach that next level under the current club model.
Alexandre Lacazette’s role as the main man upfront has evolved into the Frenchman playing as a link-up player, with Gabriel Martinelli, Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Sake all scoring more goals than the Arsenal striker this season.
Indeed, Abraham would have been perfect for Arsenal given his qualities, yet with the striker flourishing with Roma, the Gunners can only watch from the side and ponder what could have happened if they just made a move for the-then Chelsea superstar.
