Giovanni van Bronckhorst got off to a winning start in the Scottish Premiership as Rangers eased past Livingston 3-1, with Joe Aribo’s goal arguably the pick of the bunch.

The former Charlton star double the Scottish giants’ lead 16 minutes in with an outrageous first-time finish from outside the area as Aribo bagged his fourth goal of the season with a strike of pure quality.

The Nigerian international was one of Steven Gerrard’s key players during his three-year spell at Rangers. And Aribo now looks set for a similar role under Van Bronckhorst following his return to the club.

The Dutch coach has won his first two games as manager of Rangers, with Aribo starting both matches for Van Bronckhorst. And supporters have so far been impressed with what they’ve seen from the former Feyenoord manager.

With the Scottish title race set to be one of the tightest in some time, Van Bronckhorst will need his players to be on top form in the coming weeks. And Aribo’s goal showed that the 25-year-old is firing on all cylinders under his new boss.

Goals from Scott Arfield and Fashion Sakala wrapped up the three points at Livingston this weekend. The result put Rangers comfortably at the top of the SPL standings as Celtic also claimed three points on Sunday.

Indeed, it was a good weekend for Rangers fans given the result away from Ibrox. Yet it was Aribo’s goal that got supporters talking on social media given the sheer quality of the strike.

Indeed, Aribo has proven time and again to be an excellent goal-scoring midfielder. And his strike against Livingston was another example of the quality the former EFL star possesses.
