Chris Sutton told BT Sport that reported Aston Villa target, David Turnbull, has been ‘outstanding’ for Celtic this season.
The Scottish Sun recently claimed that Villa are interested in the £7 million man, who will be heading to the Euros with Scotland this summer.
It has been a season to forget for those at Parkhead, whilst Dean Smith has vastly improved a Villa team that narrowly avoided relegation last season.
And given that Celtic missed out on winning ten-in-a-row, Sutton thinks that Turnbull has perhaps been the only ‘outstanding’ player for those in Glasgow this term.
“I think he deserves his opportunity (after getting Scotland call-up),” said Sutton.
“He has had an outstanding season at Celtic. He is probably the only one who has.”

The last time Aston Villa signed a Scotsman was John McGinn and it’s fair to say that one has worked out.
The boyhood Celtic fan has wowed those in the West Midlands and Turnbull has the attacking talents to wow those at Villa.
Of course, English clubs have the financial power to lure the top players away from Scotland and signing Turnbull might just be a smart purchase, just like McGinn, come the summer.
