Leeds United are reportedly set of a quiet January transfer window according to Phil Hay, but reports linking them to Adama Traore recently seem to contradict that view.
Angus Kinnear has stated that the Whites will spring into action if a deal too good to turn down arises, and Traore could be exactly that in January.
Indeed, the Spaniard’s current deal at Wolves is ticking down as he continues to refuse a new contract, and with Victor Orta having links to him after signing him for Middlesbrough, it seems as though this one could have legs.
Bringing a player of Traore’s calibre in would be a big lift for everyone at Leeds, but perhaps nobody would benefit more from the Spaniard’s arrival than Patrick Bamford.
Bamford and Traore obviously played together for Boro earlier in their careers, and they formed a deadly partnership that Leeds fans ought to know all about.
Indeed, back in the 2017/18 season, Traore and Bamford ripped Leeds to shreds at Elland Road, with Bamford bagging a hat-trick and Traore having a hand in creating those chances, picking up one assist and a 9.90 WhoScored rating along the way.
With Bamford finding his form in the Premeir League, and Traore looking to be much more assured technically since working under Nuno Espirito Santo, re-igniting this partnership could see Leeds form one of the deadliest attacks in the country.
Just imagine what Bielsa could do with Traore, the winger is already an absolute physical anomaly with his incredible strength and pace, but if Bielsa can teach him how to make the right runs and how to improve the minor details of his game, there’s no reason why he can’t be an absolute star.
Bamford would be getting the perfect Christmas gift from Victor Orta if he manages to bring Adama Traore to Elland Road, even if it is a few weeks after the festivities have died down.
