Speaking on his podcast, Leeds United journalist Phil Hay has delivered an interesting update on Leeds United’s January transfer plans.
Angus Kinnear has previously hinted that Leeds could get involved in the January transfer window if the right deal comes up, but Hay believes that this will be a very quiet period when it comes to incoming transfers.
Indeed, the journalist has spoken to people at the club, and he’s heard that Leeds won’t be doing much and that Bielsa is very content with the squad he’s currently working with.
“It seems to me that there’s less and less interest in doing business at this time of year, it seems that the strategy of your clubs like Liverpool and Manchester City is to get things done in the summer when the window and the length of the market gives you more time to negotiate and allows things to be much more stable rather than the four week road-rash you get in January,” Hay said before giving Leeds’ view.
“Leeds are very much of that mindset as well, and I think there are a few reasons for that.
“The first is that they’ve spent £100m, or invested and committed £100m on players in the summer, and on that basis alone, that was done with a view to make sure, come January, and potentially come next summer as well, the expenditure wouldn’t need be so high and there wouldn’t be any real urgency for signings, certainly at the mid-way point this season.”
“If it was a quiet window, I think they’d be quite happy, certainly from speaking to people at the club, I don’t get the impression that Bielsa is banging the drum at all for new signings, what I think they will do, and Orta is pretty good,at this, is to be aware and have their eyes open for opportunities that are too good to miss.”

Phil Hay seems to believe Leeds won’t be rushing out to get deals done on January 1st, but it seems as though you shouldn’t write off the idea of them making a signing.
We’re not going to see the flurry of activity we saw in the summer, but Leeds don’t need to do that kind of rebuild again, they’re in a semi-comfortable position and they’re on track to achieve their goal of staying in the division this term.
However, with this being said, links to Adama Traore have emerged over the last 24 hours, so don’t be too surprised if there are a couple of twists and turns to come at Elland Road.
