Speculation has mounted that Tottenham Hotspur could be interested in bringing a certain Georginio Wijnaldum to North London during the January transfer window.

The former Liverpool midfielder hasn’t set the French capital alight since joining Paris Saint-Germain upon his release from the Anfield club last summer.

According to 90 Min, Tottenham haven’t ruled out signing the Netherlands international and if it materialises, it’s a potentially brilliant addition by the Lilywhites.

We’re talking about a first-team regular in one of the greatest Liverpool teams in history.

Wijnaldum was a mainstay in helping Jurgen Klopp’s side win a Champions League and Premier League in consecutive seasons.

Remember, he also scored a double in that victory over Barcelona at Anfield, when Liverpool came from three goals down to beat the Camp Nou outfit 4-0 on Merseyside.

Bigger than Ndombele

Tottenham badly need a midfielder of Wijnaldum’s vintage and although some Lilywhites supporters may disagree, he’s a far bigger player than Tanguy Ndombele.

In terms of talent, not many midfielders come anywhere near Ndombele’s ability.

However, the same could be said about a prime Mesut Ozil at Arsenal but for all their talent, their personality and mentality holds them back from producing the brilliance every single week.

Wijnaldum is less talented than Ndombele, but he would keep the Frenchman out of Antonio Conte’s first XI for virtually every outing.

Simply put, he blows Ndombele out of the water if we’re talking about who’d be a greater posititve influence on this Tottenham team and if Conte and Fabio Paratici could get this completed – particularly on loan – it may perhaps be one of the best bargains during the January window.
