Tottenham did a lot of work in the summer transfer window, spending big on some massive names such as Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguillon.

However, one thing they didn’t do was to sign a replacement for Christian Eriksen.

It’d be a bit of a stretch to say that Tottenham are missing Eriksen, after all, he’s faltering over in Italy, but Spurs don’t have a player with his qualities in the squad right now.

Eriksen was a two-footed playmaker who could hit a dead ball and strike from range, and nobody in Tottenham’s squad really matches that description at the moment.

However, Tottenham could soon have their perfect Eriksen replacement for just £23 million, and fans are very excited about this one.

Dominik Szobsaszlai looks like the perfect player to be Eriksen’s heir.

The Hungarian certainly has the same level of creativity as the Dane, providing six assists in the Austrian Bundesliga this term, and he can also strike a ball from range.

Just look at his wondergoal for Hungary last week, if that doesn’t remind you of a prime Eriksen at Spurs, then you’ve clearly not been paying attention.

Of course, the former Spurs midfielder was also known for his set-piece ability, and Szobsaszlai certainly has that in his locker.

Last season the Hungarian scored no fewer than four direct free-kicks, and if he joined Spurs he would immediately add an extra dynamic to the squad in that area.

Szobsaszlai is only 20, so he is by no means a guaranteed future star, but with a release clause at just £23 million, Spurs need to take a punt on him.

Yes, he’s coming from the Austrian League, which isn’t the best division in Europe, but couldn’t you have said the same about Eriksen when he was signed from the Eredivisie way back in 2013?

Daniel Levy can finally get the true successor to Eriksen’s throne at Tottenham in Szobsaszlai.

When you consider that the 20-year-old will cost just £6 million more than Eriksen cost Inter in January, this looks like a move that Spurs simply have to make.
