Deadline day was a rather quiet one in the grand scheme of things, yet there’s no denying that Aaron Ramsey’s loan move to Rangers was the biggest and most surprising deal of the day.
The Welsh international joined the Scottish giants on a short-term loan spell that will see Ramsey play for Rangers for the remainder of the season. And to say that this transfer is a coup will be an understatement.
Whilst the former Arsenal star has hardly been used by Juventus this season, the 30-year-old midfielder has shown in recent months with Wales that he still has the quality to be one of the top players in his positions in Europe. And now, Ramsey has brought his talents to Rangers.
Ex-Rangers coach called Ramsey the best attacking midfielder in England

Ramsey has won plaudits with both Wales and Arsenal supporters for his exploits on the pitch, and former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is also a big fan of the midfielder, with the now-Aston Villa coach even labelling the midfielder as the best in his position in the Premier League in 2015.
The English manager said on BT Sport via the Independent: “For me, when he’s in that form, he’s the best attacking midfielder in the Premier League. You should play your best players where they want to be and I’m sure that’d be in the middle.”
Indeed, such praise is impressive considering Gerrard’s own achievements in the Premier League playing a similar role. And these comments should make Rangers fans very excited for Ramsey’s arrival at Ibrox.
Signing can fire GvB to domestic and European success

It isn’t too outlandish to suggest that Ramsey is the biggest signing Rangers have pulled off in some time. And for Giovanni van Bronckhorst, the Welsh international could be the defining factor to reclaiming the Scottish Premiership as well as succeeding in Europe.
Whilst Borussia Dortmund will be tough opposition for Rangers later this month, the signing of Ramsey could give the Glasgow giants that extra push to pull off one of the shocks of the tie.
Silverware in Europe is likely still far from Rangers’ grasp. However, the arrival of Ramsey will no doubt push the club to success in both Scotland on the continent this season.
