Tanguy Ndombele is very much Tottenham Hotspur’s secret weapon, their ace in the hole.

The France international hasn’t played for Spurs yet this season but, if Nuno Espirito Santo brings him back into contention, it’s a major boost.

That’s because Ndombele, a £63 million signing two years ago, is a fantastic player on his day.

But he is flawed in the sense that he has to be happy in his surroundings to truly flourish on the field – and well, two decisions by Fabio Paratici may have jeopardised that for good.

The Lilywhites’ managing director sold Moussa Sissoko to Watford last Friday and then terminated Serge Aurier’s contract on transfer deadline day.

Unmotivated

They were two of Ndombele’s closest friends at Hotspur Way and Football London has previously reported that the player was unhappy with the club’s efforts to offload both Sissoko and Aurier.

Now that they have gone, it’s plausible that Paratici has exacerbated the situation with Ndombele and getting him back to his best might be very difficult from here on in.

You can’t criticise the Italian because, well, deadwood is deadwood at the end of the day and you can’t not get rid of players just incase it might upset others at the club.

But a happy Ndombele off the pitch is a lethal proposition for opposition players on the field and it stands to reason that getting rid of his best mates may well result in the former Lyon midfielder never hitting the heights he has shown intermittently again.
