Tottenham Hotspur have disappointed midfielder Tanguy Ndombele with the club’s attempts to offload Serge Aurier and Moussa Sissoko this summer, per football.london.

Ndombele has built a close relationship with the Ivorian full-back and French midfielder since moving to north London in 2019. Spurs broke their transfer record to buy the 24-year-old, who has since become a key and popular figure at the club, from Lyon for £54m.

Aurier and Sissoko particularly helped Ndombele settle in England, after moving for his first experience outside of France with Tottenham. Now, he is once again considering quitting Spurs with his two close friends potentially leaving.

Ndombele had sought to leave Tottenham within weeks of his arrival two years ago after struggling in Mauricio Pochettino’s pre-season. He sought life away from north London last summer, as well, before Chairman Daniel Levy convinced the seven-cap star to stay.

Tottenham believe Ndombele will still be at the club come the end of the current market, but their actions regarding Aurier and Sissoko’s futures have clouded his mind. The Times report Aurier features on Managing Director Fabio Paratici’s list of deadwood to sell.

Toby Alderweireld also featured on the chopping block before joining Qatari outfit Al-Duhail last month. The Belgian may not be alone heading for the Middle East from Tottenham, as The Times note Sissoko could follow. Aurier, meanwhile, is likely to stay in Europe.

Reports by Calciomercato claim Aurier is an option for AC Milan as they replace Manchester United loanee Diogo Dalot. Per Gazzetta dello Sport, the Ivorian was also an option for Paris Saint-Germain. But Pochettino’s outfit signed £52m Achraf Hakimi from Inter Milan instead.

Tottenham will not give Ndombele up despite Sissoko and Aurier issues

Tottenham will likely not give up Ndombele this summer, despite his disappointment with Sissoko and Aurier’s potential moves. It would be hard for Paratici to recoup the large outlay Levy invested in 2019. Which, football.london add, would be a must for him to go.

Spurs chiefs also believe the £200,000-per-week powerhouse will continue to adapt to the Premier League and find his best form. He improved his goal return to three last season after scoring twice in 2019/20, while offering two assists in each.

Nuno Espirito Santo may have to show him how he will now give the Frenchman a key role next term. It may be Nuno and Paratici’s best way of Tottenham keeping Ndombele and accepting Sissoko and Aurier’s exits, having already heard what Levy can offer last year.
