Yes, Spurs lost their Europa Conference League qualifier 1-0 away to Pacos de Ferreira but, with the return leg in North London next week, they could and definitely should turn it around.
In other words, the damage isn’t done on that front.
But there was another big negative in the form of Cameron Carter-Vickers.

The USA international, making his first competitive start for the Lilywhites since 2017, came off injured toward the end of the game.
And the bad news here is that Tottenham had still hoped to sell him before the transfer window closes – but that looks in doubt now, depending on the injury.
To make matters worse, the North Londoners wanted £5 million for the player and with his contract expiring next summer, it’s very possible he’ll leave the club on a free if he doesn’t get a move away before the window shuts, which now hangs in the balance because of his injury.
On the one hand, you can’t blame Nuno Espirito Santo because with Joe Rodon injured, he needed another centre-back to partner Cristian Romero.
On the other, using a linked-away player who the club value at £5 million was a big risk and one that could backfire in a big way.
Whether it’s playing a three-man defence or using someone like Ben Davies in a central role, there was a lot of potential combinations that the Portuguese could’ve used to avoid using Carter-Vickers, but he played him nonetheless and it cost the club a few millions because of it.
