Celtic are continuing talks to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Cameron Carter-Vickers – but he isn’t interested in a loan move.

That’s according to the Daily Record, who state that Carter-Vickers has decided that he wants to leave Tottenham for good rather than head out on loan.

The 23-year-old has already gone out on loan to six different clubs; Sheffield United, Ipswich Town, Swansea City, Stoke City, Luton Town and Bournemouth.

Carter-Vickers now feels it’s time to settle down, and Celtic hope to offer him a new home having already signed one centre back in Carl Starfelt.

Tottenham want £5million for Carter-Vickers, and that could prevent Celtic from getting a deal done even if they’re pushing ahead with negotiations.

Newcastle United are also keen, which is why Celtic are attempting to accelerate talks and get Carter-Vickers signed up soon.

Carter-Vickers has just one year left on his Tottenham contract, and even with Toby Alderweireld gone, it doesn’t look like he will have a first-team role at Spurs.

Celtic will need to dig deep if they want Carter-Vickers with no loan move possible, and they may have to hope to structure a deal with instalments in order to pip Newcastle to the deal.

This could end up being a double deal too; Celtic are also looking to sign another Tottenham player in goalkeeper Joe Hart, meaning talks with Spurs will be ongoing throughout this week.
